A group of 6 students, including me, designed and executed this exhibition based on the concept of modern boredom. “Boredom” explores the relationship between boredom and stimulation in modern times. Developments since the Industrial Revolution have exposed men to ever-increasing sensory stimulation. We are unable to process all this stimulation around us which leads to stagnating boredom. We fear this boredom and seek stimuli to end it but get caught in a vicious cycle. Our exhibition encourages individuals to control their search for stimulation through the metaphor of a colour wheel. The individual exhibits cover different contexts such as fast fashion, gambling and, violent movies where we find relief from boredom. They lead with a hidden message to see boredom from a positive perspective before our thirst for stimulation is beyond control.
